Inexpensive ideas for a kitchen makeover.

Remodeling any part of the house can be expensive but the kitchen is more so, because of the amount of storage space that has to be revamped if you are trying to remodel your house. Kitchen refacing is a relatively trendy way of getting the look that you desire for your home at the same time not being heavy on the budget. In the process of refacing we are using the basic skeletal structure of the kitchen cabinets but are only changing the door and the hardware for them. Depending on the decor of the rest of the house you can choose from wood, laminate or even any veneer for your cabinetry. Door hardware on the other hand has a mind boggling selection to choose from. Door knobs, door pulls, handle sets, door hinges and all come in different designs, materials and textures.

Choose from ceramic door pulls, to glass knobs or sand cast bronze metal handle sets and so on. There are companies like Emtek and Deltana which specialize in this kind of hardware and their inventory will vie with any style that you might want to choose for your home whether it is contemporary, antique, colonial or traditional.

Kitchen tiles are another cost effective way of sprucing up your home. Given that they can be easily chipped or broken and can accumulate grout they are still relatively easy maintenance and can be cleaned easily. Granite and marble are not a practical choice since they can be slippery and are very difficult to maintain. Look for heat resistant, stain resistant, non-porous and unglazed durable tiles that match your home decor. Companies like Lowe’s and Sears have a good set of ideas that you can go with.
